So breaking into the apartment to get tested. So much about the choice. from VietNam

Translation: she mainly said “oh i’m working, why are you capturing me, i’m working”. One guy said: “just do the test then you can return to working”.

The story is a little more nuanced.

Basically, from the info i gathered around, this woman here, who lives in the hotspot of hotspot in Bình Dương has a history of refusing to get tested at least 3 times before and has been known to be moving around the apartment a lot to socialize and giving stuff to shipper (she is an online seller).
It got to the point that her neighbors complain to the apartment manager, who in turn complained to the ward, who in turn ordered the police to get her ass outta there so the medics can give her the test. When she evidently didn’t comply, they resort to force.
After the clip turned viral and gather the attention and outrage of ”online lawyers” and ”online buddha” though, the higher ups who ordered the use of forces got cowed by peer pressure and so put all the blame to the police force while whitewashing himself free of charge, which really piss people off as they think the way this situation is handled could set a really bad precedence in BD, a province already known for being volatile and being the second biggest covid hotspot after HCM city.

this is actually one of the best news coming out of this pandemic. it shows the vietnamese government is not hardcore authoritarian like china is. right after this incident went viral, the person in charge here was admonished and had to apologize to the victim. it shows the government does not want to violently force anything on its citizens. it shows the government is very concerned with making the people angry. so while they are corrupt as fucking shit and stealing from the people, at least they don’t think they have unlimited power and can hurt anyone they want with impunity.

meanwhile in china, they were barricading people in their own houses and forcibly testing people.

they admit on national news channels that the dudes violated protocols [https://vtc.vn/pha-cua-cuong-che-nguoi-dan-di-test-covid-19-sai-luat-lang-phi-vat-tu-y-te-ar638856.html]()

Imo the woman and the authority were both wrong here, now I dont know all the facts and the law, Im pretty sure you violated the law by not taking tests and the authority dont have no rights to detain someone who hasnt been proven to be a criminal either, if they just do whatever they think are right then that’s just them being authoritarian. And, no I’m not saying the gov is authoritarian based on this, just the local authority, nobody wins in this situation, they could have handled it better abiding to actual laws and protocols.

Why is it so difficult to just do a test? She got it coming herself. If she leaks the virus into the community, then ppl will ask why didn’t government do a good job.
Stop crying, sjw and vote me down. Please. Thanks. I like to get a – 50 for a record

Even in reddit, there are so many people who defend the polices.

Are you at least one time read the law? This is totally illegal, no paper, no procedure. Nothing to say more. If you want to capture someone, please do the right way.

You accept this, then someday it will be your turn.

I’m with the authorities this time. Fuck these looneys. All this shit is ONLY because morons got the internet. Prior, they lined up and meekly took every vaccine known to man, through peer pressure if nothing else, or they just were too dumb to pull any alternative threads together acting alone. Then a few political shysters across the globe figured out they could harness the imbecile vote, and here we are. Granted there’s no right wing rabble rousers in Nam, but she’s still one of their kind, and they still got the internet.

  9. TheLoneGuevarist says:

I mean, all she needed to do was take the damn test and the whole debacle could’ve been avoided. People and their fanatical “individual rights no matter what” bullshit exhaust me.

I might be in the minority but one positive case could be a disaster. It takes 30 secs to have a test. We get tested every 4 days in my apartment block and it is annoying but it’s a necessary evil. Anyway can’t wait for some normality from tomoro anyway my friends, hopefully we’re through the worst of it

well, I kinda agree with the police in that situation, taking the COVID test is mandatory to protect others. In no situation that anyone can refuse to take the test. You need to let go of your own convenience for the sake of others.

Hot spot for covid. Detained her without a mask and lot of people surrounding her and touching everything. Sound like she was safer in her apt.
